YAAAAWN is a motion graphics project that visualizes a state of ongoing fatigue through repeated yawning throughout the day.

Based on five days of collected yawn data, each yawn triggered by different causes is represented through repeated letterforms in varying shades of blue. The animation gradually shifts from yellow to deep blue, reflecting the passage from daytime to night and the persistence of tiredness throughout the day.

The acceleration of motion and scaling of the letters suggest the physical rhythm of yawning, while the letters gradually expand and quickly contract to mimic the movement of the mouth during a yawn. At its peak, a recorded yawn is introduced to create an immersive and shared bodily response.
